Hannele Pokka appointed as the Permanent Secretary of the Finnish Ministry of the Environment

The Finnish Government appointed Doctor of Laws Hannele Pokka to serve as the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of the Environment from 1 September 2013 until 31 May 2020 on 8 May. Hannele Pokka

Hannele Pokka (60) has been acting as the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of the Environment since September 2008, prior to which she served as the Governor of the Province of Lapland from 1994. Her previous posts include Minister of Justice in 1991–1994 and Member of Parliament in 1979–1994.

The role of the Permanent Secretary is to assist ministers in managing, developing and overseeing the operations of the ministry and its administrative sector in accordance with the rules of procedure of the Finnish Government.

A total of 11 individuals applied for the post.
